Bible Reading: Genesis 41:1-40
This past Monday, we started talking about God’s voice. We said that often God uses people to be His voice. In about 2700 BC, God chose Joseph to be His voice.
Joseph was in prison in Egypt under false charges.
Pharaoh had begun having strange dreams. He asked his wise men and advisors to tell him what his dreams meant. None of them were able to interpret the dreams.
Pharaoh’s chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh and told him that Joseph had once interpreted the cupbearer’s dream. He told Pharaoh that he believed Joseph could interpret Pharaoh’s dreams, too.
Pharaoh called for Joseph. In Genesis 41:16, Josephs told Pharaoh, “I cannot do it, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” God then spoke to Pharaoh through Joseph. The message in the dreams was a message from God.
God used Joseph to tell Pharaoh that a terrible famine was coming. Through Joseph, God warned Pharaoh to set aside food during the next few good years so the country would be prepared to endure the coming famine.
God want you to be His voice, too. He wants to use you to help and care for people, just as He used Joseph.
I hope you will let God speak through you.
“For God does speak – now one way, now another – though man may not perceive it.” Job 33:14
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please, let me be Your voice. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
