Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Living for God isn’t always easy. Many Christians think about all the things that they would like to do to help God’s kingdom grow. They imagine what it would be like to be a missionary or to work in a local shelter or to be able to offer comfort to the hurting. Sadly, that is where they stop. They never move beyond thinking to doing.
One of the reasons for unwillingness to put their faith into action is fear. They know that Jesus promise that because we have chosen to welcome Him into our lives we will experience troubles, trials, and other difficulties. They afraid to step out of their comfortable life and risk living actively for Jesus.
I want to encourage you, and all Christians, not to fear the troubles and trials that we face because we choose to live for God. 1 Peter 1:7 tells us, “These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed,” so don’t let the difficulties that may come your way paralyze you. Stop thinking about what God wants you to do and start doing what God wants you to do. The reward will greatly exceed the risk.
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me courage to actively live for you today and every day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
