Restoration

Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:22-24 & Acts 3:19

There is a program on TV called American Restoration. The star of this show, Rick Dale, is the owner of a business that restores old, used, or antique items.

To restore something means to do whatever is necessary to return that item to its original (new) condition. In Rick’s case, this could be taking an old car, an antique toy, or other object and making it look like it did on the day it was first made.

Like those antiques, we need to be restored. We are all tarnished by sin. We have lost our soft, tender heart. Our attitudes have become warped. Our bodies and minds are flawed.

Like those antiques we can’t restore ourselves. We need someone to do the restoration work for us.

That’s where Jesus comes in. Jesus is in the human restoration business.

Jesus’ blood, shed on the cross, removes sin’s tarnish and stain. It cleanses and softens our hearts. It repairs our attitudes and removes the flaws caused by sin. It is Jesus’ blood that allows us to, “put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22b-24). It is only through Jesus that our “sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

Let Jesus restore you – Believe that Jesus died so you could be restored and made new. Confess the wrong things you have done to God. Ask God to forgive you. Then Jesus will restore you to your right relationship with God. You will be like God originally created you to be.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for restoring me and making me new through Jesus and His blood. In Jesus' name. Amen.
