Bible Reading: Revelation 3:14-18
There are three reactions that each of us can have to any person or thing.
* We can hate intensely.
* We can love passionately.
* We can be indifferent.
Obviously, God wants us to love Him passionately. However, He would prefer us to hate Him than to be indifferent toward Him. In Revelation 3:16 God says, “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” God’s wants to have nothing to do with lukewarm, indifferent, apathetic people, people who have a “ho hum” attitude toward Him.
Why would anyone be “ho hum” about God?
Perhaps they aren’t interested in God. Perhaps they think God isn’t interested in them. Perhaps they are distracted living their lives. Perhaps they think God and the things of God don’t fit in their lives. Perhaps they think that God doesn’t just really matter.
God wants people to be passionate about Him, passionate about His plan, passionate about His way of living. People matter to God. He wants to matter to them.
How have you reacted to God in the past? What, if anything, do you need to do to be as passionate about loving God and living for Him as He is about loving you and dying for you?
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!” Revelation 3:15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, light a fire in my heart. I want to live passionately for you every day of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
