Bible Reading: John 20:31
If someone wants to know what kind of father your father is who is in the best position to describe him?
Of course you are the best person to reveal to other people just what your father is like and what kind of father he is.
That is the unique position that Jesus has as the Son of God. John 20:31 says, “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” Jesus is the Son of God. Having been related to God forever, Jesus is in the unique position of being the person best qualified to describe and reveal to us just what kind of father God is.
That is just what Jesus spent his life here on earth doing, revealing what his Father is like to those who wanted to get to know him.
Jesus is still revealing what his Father is like. Jesus uses his Spirit and his Word to teach us about his Father and what his Father did for us because he loves us. Jesus said in John 3:16 that his Father, “…so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Jesus wants you to believe that his Father loves you and sent Jesus to die for you so that you, too, can be a son (child) of God. That’s the promise found in Galatians 3:26 – “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
