Bible Reading: Revelation 4
Riding a bicycle is fun. Some people ride their bikes to work, on errands, or just because.
If you want to get anywhere on a bike, there are things you must do. First, you must own a bike. Then, you must take the bike out of your garage or wherever you store it. Third, you must be sure your bike’s tires are inflated and the rest of the bike is working properly. Fourth, you must sit on your bike. Finally, you must pedal. If you omit any of these steps, you won’t get very far. Getting from your house or apartment to another destination by riding your bike is a process. It doesn’t just happen.
Praising God is a process, too. The process begins when you admit that you’ve failed God and sinned against him. The process continues as you move from admitting your sin to asking God’s forgiveness and accepting Jesus’ death as the punishment for your sin.
The praise process doesn’t stop there. As we grow in our faith, as we learn more about God, as we adjust our lives to fit into God’s plan for us, as we become more dependent upon God, we have more and more reason to praise Him. The praise that started out at the time of our salvation grows and grows and grows with every trial we live through and every prayer that God answers. Like a great musical composition, our praise crescendos little by little, throughout our lives. Our praise will reach the peak of its crescendo when we are in God’s presence in heaven. Today’s Bible reading gives us a glimpse of that praise. Verse 8b says, “Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’”
I hope you have begun your crescendo of praise.
I also hope you continue to build that crescendo every day.
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
– Revelation 4:11
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want every moment of every day of my life to add to the crescendo of praise for Your greatness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
