Bible Reading: Mark 8:22-26 (NLT)
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus touched the eyes of the blind man twice. The first touch restored the man’s sight. After that first touch Jesus asked the man, “Can you see anything now?” (verse 23) The man answered, “Yes, I see people, but I can’t see them clearly. They are like trees walking around.” (verse 24) It took a second touch by Jesus to fully restore the man’s sight so he could see clearly.
When we ask Jesus to forgive our sins and become a part of our lives, that is like that first touch. We begin to be able to see God’s plan and our weaknesses. We recognize that there is more to life than we’d ever imagined before, but things are still cloudy.
It isn’t until Jesus touches our lives a second time ...and a third...and a fourth...that clarity comes. Each time that Jesus reaches into our lives, we learn more about Him, more about our Heavenly Father, more about the Holy Spirit and His work in our lives. Each time Jesus touches us, we learn more about ourselves and how we fit into God’s plan. With ever touch, our perspective improves, distress and discouragement lessen, our hearts, lives, and relationship with God all change.
I hope you have experienced Jesus’ first touch on your life. I hope you can claim Him as your Lord and Savior.
I pray that you will experience Jesus’ second touch, and His third and His fourth, until you truly see clearly God and His plan for your life.
“Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.”
Mark 8:25a
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please touch my life again and again. I want to clearly see You and Your plan for my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
