Bible Reading: John 15:9-11
“I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart. I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart to stay!”
That Sunday school song is fun to sing. It makes us feel good. We love the idea of being filled with joy, but, is it really possible? Can we really have joy down in our hearts to stay...forever?
Yes! Absolutely!
How is it possible to have joy in our hearts forever?
First, we can have joy because God will take & carry our hurts and headaches (2 Peter 5:7).
Second, we can have joy because God loves us. God promises His love to those who love and obey Him (John 16:27).
Third, we can have joy because God has freed us from slavery to sin (Romans 5:8).
Fourth, we can have joy because God has given us eternal. When we admit our sin and believe Jesus died to take the punishment for those sins, God promises us life in heaven that will last forever! 1 Corinthians 2:9 tells us that God’s promised eternal blessings are beyond imagination. This verse says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Turn to Jesus. Accept His offered salvation and love. When you do, you will be filled with unimaginable joy!
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” – John 15:9-11
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for filling me with Your joy when I accepted Jesus. Help me to live so that others will see that joy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
