Warnings

Bible Reading: 2 Kings 17:13-20

Riding a motorcycle is fun! Riding can also be dangerous. Motorcycle riders must be alert and watch for cars, trains, objects on the road, and other hazards. They can’t assume that other drivers see them or will stop in time to avoid an accident. Their lives depend on their being alert and watching for warning signs of potential danger.

Like motorcycle riders, our lives depend on our being alert and watching for warning signs of potential danger to our physical, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

For example, God loved the Israelite people. He wanted to bless them. He wanted them to have the best He had to offer. But they had strayed from God. They were living like the ungodly people around them. In order to try to cause the Israelites to stop sinning and return to God, God warned them saying, ““The LORD warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and seers: “Turn from your evil ways. Observe my commands and decrees, in accordance with the entire Law that I commanded your fathers to obey and that I delivered to you through my servants the prophets.”

It was important for the Israelites to listen to God’s warning and turn from their sin. Their lives depended upon it.

It is important for us to listen to God's warnings, too. Our lives here on earth and eternally in heaven, depend on it.

“For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:32 & 33

Prayer: Lord God, help me to listen to your warnings and turn from my sin. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
