Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 5:18
Children are taught to be good and use proper manners. They are taught to treat adults with respect, chew with their mouths closed, say “Please” and “Thank you,” and do many other “good and proper” things.
The “be good & proper” lesson isn’t just for children. King Solomon learned that lesson many years ago. He wrote about what he learned so that we can learn that lesson, too. In Ecclesiastes 5:18 King Solomon wrote, “I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him — for this is his lot.”
What does it mean to be good? To be good means to behave in God-like ways, to do everything with love, kindness, and respect.
What does it meant to be proper? To be proper means to behave correctly, to speak and act politely and with a godly attitude and demeanor.
Ask God to help you honor Him by being good and proper in all that you do and say.
“For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men…Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.” 1 Peter 2:15 & 17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to live a good and proper life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
