Benefits of Righteousness

Bible Reading: Isaiah 32:17

Today's Bible reading says, "The fruit of righteousness will be peace;

the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever."

I've emphasized the words fruit of and effect of. Let's talk about those words.

These words mean the result, outcome, benefit of doing something.

In today's reading, the fruit of, effect of, or benefit of living in righteousness is that we will have peace. In other words, when we obey God and live in a way that pleases Him, our hearts and souls will experience a calm contentment . We will be at ease, knowing that God is in control and that He is always working for our best. Our lives will be free of tumult or chaos. Instead, our lives will exemplify a spirit of gentle, calm assurance. We will experience confidence that God's best will abound in our lives. Worry, fear, and uncertainty will be replaced by assurance, courage, and certainty.

I pray that you will choose to live in obedience to God so He will fill your heart and life with peace, giving you a calm assurance of His presence and activity in your life always working for your best.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to always obey you. Fill my heart and soul with Your peace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
