Bible Reading: Psalm 119:129-136
I enjoy jigsaw puzzles. I find "mystery" puzzles especially fun. These puzzles usually come with a short story that you read then, as you complete the puzzle, you try to solve the mystery. The catch is that there is no picture on the front of the box. You don't know what the picture looks like until it is finished. This different element is one of the things that makes mystery puzzles fun and confusing – they keep you guessing.
Unlike mystery puzzles, we don't have to guess to try to understand God, His plan, or His ways. He has given us a "picture" to look at and study to help us understand these things. This picture is the Bible.
Verse 130 of today's Bible reading says, "The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand." If we read and study the Bible we don't have to guess about things like creation, how the church began, what is right and what is wrong, how God wants us to behave, how we can know we are going to heaven, who Jesus was and why He came to earth. God has shown us the answers to these and many other "puzzles" in the Bible, His special message to us.
I hope you will take the message of today's Bible reading to heart and study the Bible to find the answers to life's many mysteries.
" Look upon me with love; teach me your decrees." Psalm 119:135
Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me the answers to the mysteries of life. Help me as I search for them in Your word. In Jesus' name. Amen."
