Bible Reading: Matthew 6:25-34 & 1 Timothy 4:6-8
We all have things we enjoy. I enjoy reading, writing, yoga, taking walks, spending time with my family and friends, and many other things.
We also have things that are important to us. Many times these two lists overlap. My friends and family are important to me. Reading the Bible and writing devotions are important to me, too.
However, we need to remember that what we enjoy and what is important to us, may not be what God wants us to focus on. For example, I may want to exercise early in the morning, but on some mornings, God wants me to go to the church to do some work for Him. At those times, I remind myself of the words of Paul in 1 Timothy 4:8, "physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." I need to remind myself what is really important.
I hope you will always keep in mind that the things of God are what really matter. God has promised that if we put Him and the things that God thinks are important first in our lives, He will reward us, now and in heaven!
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to always keep You and Your priorities first in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen."
