Bible Reading: Psalm 105
I love the suffix "ful." When "ful" is added to a word, it turns that word into an adjective. Then when that adjective is place with another noun, it indicates that the now is completely filled with whatever that adjective is.
For example, when we add "ful" to the word "thank," we get "thankful." To be thankful is to have a heart, mind and soul full of thanks. It means to have the desire to give thanks in such an amount that it can't truly be measured.
Verse 1 of today's Bible reading, Psalm 5, says, "Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done." If we are truly thankful, truly filled with thanks for all that God has done, it can be overwhelming to express those thanks.
However, God wants us to try. The rest of Psalm 5 goes on to give us many things that we can do to express some of thanks that fills us to God. For example, verse 2 tells us to call on his name and to tell of the wonderful things that God has done. Verse 3 tells us to glory in God's name and to rejoice and verse 4 tells us to look to the Lord for His strength and to seek God's face.
I encourage you to read the rest of Psalm 5. See how many ways you can find to express the thanks that you are filled with to God. Then, go and show God just how full of thanks you really are!
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." Colossians 3:15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to use only words that demonstrate Your love. In Jesus' name. Amen."
