Three Things

Bible Reading: Psalm 119:9-16

Christian author Warren Myers took the question and answer in Psalm 119:9, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word." In 1984, Mr. Myers wrote of an interesting way to approach our daily quiet time with God. Mr. Myers said that he does three things to multiply the benefits he receives from his daily time with God.

First, he prays.

Second, he marks in his Bible, underlining words and phrases that stand out or drawing a vertical line alongside longer passages that catch his attention.

Third, he marks "FV" in the margin beside the one verse in his daily reading that he sees as his favorite verse in that passage.

Using Mr. Myers' "Three Things" approach to daily quiet time can help keep us focused. It can help us keep our minds engaged in thoughts of God and what God wants us to learn from each days' Bible reading. It can help us better see what truth or truths from our daily Bible reading we need to be apply to our lives and take action on.

Will this method work for you?

I don't know. Why not try it?

If it helps keep you focused on God and His plan for you, great!

If not, that's okay, too. Find another way to spend time with God and His word. The most important things isn't how you go about reading and memorizing the Bible and praying but that you do read and memorize the Bible and pray every day!

"I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word." Psalm 119:15 & 16

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to find the best way to be with You so that You can teach me to be more like Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen."
