Satisfaction

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:9-14 (esp.12 & 13)

Satisfaction means contentment, ease of mind, completion, successfulness, having a sense of accomplishment.

Satisfaction is not perfection!

God wants us to all be satisfied with our lives. He wants us to enjoy our work, our families, our friends, and our pastimes. King Solomon, in verse 12 of today's Bible reading, said, "I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live."

Being happy and satisfied is more than doing what we want. It's more than "living my way."

Being happy and satisfied requires commitment and effort. We need to be doing things of lasting value. Why? Temporal things give us only temporal satisfaction. For our satisfaction to be eternal, we must do things that have eternal results. In the words of King Solomon, "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14). If everything we do, say, and think is done with the intent of honoring God by obeying His commands, we will be guaranteed eternal satisfaction.

"That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil — this is the gift of God." Ecclesiastes 3:13

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be satisfied with my life now and to do things to guarantee my eternal satisfaction. In Jesus' name. Amen.
