Bible Reading: Isaiah 43:14-28
We have a hard time remembering a lot of things – where our keys are, appointment times, people's names – but one thing we seem to be good at remembering is our sins, screw-ups, flaws, failures. We berate ourselves, kick ourselves, blame ourselves, punish ourselves. We refuse to forgive ourselves and move on.
God is different. God has a wonderful memory. He remembers everything -- everything except our sins. God is terrible at remembering our sins.
God even forgot the Israelites' sins. The Israelites, the people God described as "the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise," had let God down again and again. They refused to obey Him. They spurned His love. They rejected His authority as their King. Still, each time they repented of their sins, God forgave them. He put their sins out of His mind. He began blessing them once again.
God does the same thing for us. Once we've confessed our sins to Him and asked Him to forgive them, He blots or cleans them away totally! No stain to remind Him that they ever existed. God forgets our sins completely. How? I'm not sure, but I'm glad it's true!
I hope you will confess your sins to God today so He can clean your heart of all traces of those sins!
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Isaiah 43:25
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I'm glad that when I confess my sin to You, your forget it and remember it no more. In Jesus' name. Amen.
