Bible Reading: Matthew 13:54; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; John 6:59
Many people say, "I'm a Christian," but they don't go to church. They usually have excuses: "I'm too tired." "I have other things to do." "There's no law that says I must go to church."
That isn't the way Jesus thought. Jesus regularly went to church. Jesus' church wasn't called "church." It was called the synagogue. That didn't matter. Jesus went to church.
Jesus didn't cling to our excuses. In fact, Jesus could have honestly said, "I'm too tired," because He worked very hard and very long hours. Jesus could truthfully have said, "I have other things to do." There were many people to heal and to teach God's plan. Jesus could have said, "There's no law that says I must go to church," because He and His Father made the rules. Jesus didn't say those things. Jesus went to church.
We should follow Jesus' example: We should go to church!
"He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read." Luke 4:16 (Emphasis added.)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to follow Jesus' example and make it my custom to regularly attend. Church. In Jesus' name. Amen.
