Peace (1)

Bible Reading: John 14:27

In John 14:27 Jesus promised that if we allow Him to be a part of our lives, we will have peace. This verse says, " Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Many people pray for peace, especially at Christmas time. The kind of peace that God gives us is much richer than the kind of peace most people think about or imagine.

Today and tomorrow we will look at two ways to explain God's peace using the letters P-E-A-C-E.

First, here is a simple way to "spell" what God's peace is. (I found this in an old magazine, but I don't know who wrote the article.) P is for "Please forgive me." E is for "excuse me." A is for "Accept my apology." C is for "Can I help you?" E is for "Exhibit good manners."

This definition of peace shows that our words and actions affect our lives and in the lives of the people around us. If we want to experience peace in our lives we must ask forgiveness, humbly admit our errors, forgive others, serve others, and be polite.

What step will you take today toward making your life and the lives of the people around you more peaceful?

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to create a more peaceful environment around me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
