Be Ready

First Corinthians 15:23 says, "But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back." Jesus is coming back again someday. He wants us all to be ready. How can we be ready? Admit our sins to Him, ask His forgiveness, and ask Him to become our Lord and Savior.

Why should we want to be ready for Jesus' return? Today's Bible reading gives us three wonderful reasons to be ready for heaven by having Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

First, verse 1 tells us, "everyone whose name is found written in the book — will be delivered." During the last days before Jesus Christ's return the world will be filled with trouble, distress, and suffering. However, if we have prepared for that awful time by giving Jesus control of our lives, we will be delivered from the pain and suffering. We won't ever experience any of the terrible things that will happen during that time.

Second, verse 2 says, "Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt." That means that even if our earthly bodies have died, Jesus will raise us to life again and we will live forever with God.

Finally, verse 3says, "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever." That means that those who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior will be given places of honor in heaven.

I hope you are ready for heaven. I hope that you have confessed your wrong-doing to God and given your life to Jesus.

"And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory." Colossians 3:4

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I'm ready for Your return. Thank You for the wonderful future You've promised to all who believe in Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen
