Cause & Effect

Bible Reading: Romans 5:6-8

Jesus and the salvation He offers are excellent examples of cause and effect.

Cause: We sinned. Effect: Jesus was sent away from heaven to die. If we hadn’t sinned, there would have been no reason for Jesus to die on the cross. If we hadn’t sinned, Jesus could have remained in heaven.

Cause: God loved us. Effect: God created a plan to save us, in spite of our sin as Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Cause: Jesus died and rose again. Effect: We can live forever! If Jesus hadn’t died on the cross and rose again on the third day, we would be doomed to be separated from God forever!

We caused our own downfall and separation from God. The effect of this was that God reached down from heaven in unconditional love and made a way for us to be with Him again.

Praise God!

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us and making a way for us to be saved from our sin. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
