Bible Reading: Revelation 21:3
When somebody says something like, “Have your people call my people and we’ll do lunch,” who are the “my people” to which he is referring? What does he expect of his
“people”?
His “people” are those who are close to him. He expects them to look after his best interests. They do that because they know him. They care about him and want to do things that please him. They know how he thinks and they think the same way. They know what is important to him, and they value the same things. Their actions show respect for him and they enjoy his company.
We are God’s people. That’s what Revelation 21:3 says about those who have given their lives to Jesus. This verse reads, “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’”
Yes, Christians are God’s people. God expects us to…
* be close to Him.
* do what honors Him.
* know intimately what He thinks and what He values.
* do things that Him make Him happy.
* show through our actions that we respect Him.
* enjoy His company.
If you have asked God’s forgiveness for your sins and given your life to Jesus Christ, you are one of God’s people. Let’s celebrate together by worshiping God and living for Him who died for us.
“Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3
Prayer:Heavenly Father, thank You for being my God.Thank You for making me one of Your people.In Jesus’ name.Amen.
