Bible Reading: John 8:12
When you walk into a dark room what it the first thing that you do?
Turn on a light, right?
It’s not likely that anyone would prefer stumbling around in a dark room, bumping into furniture and tripping over loose rugs, to walking directly from one side of the room to the other with all of the furniture and obstructions in full view.
When Jesus came to earth in a human body, he “shed some light” on the spiritual condition of each of our hearts and souls. In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus’ perfect life gave us a clear view of just how imperfect our own lives are. His perfect, selfless sacrifice gives us a clear view of how imperfect our own efforts to earn our way to heaven really are.
Are you stumbling around in the dark spiritually?
Turn on The Light! Look at your life in the Light – the perfect life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Ask Jesus to forgive you and to send the Holy Spirit to live in your heart. That way you can stop stumbling around in the dark trying to find the way to heaven and start following the Light – Jesus – the only to heaven.
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for lighting the way to heaven. I’m sorry it took me so long to see the Light. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
